Mosquitoes cause
more human suffering than any other organism -
over one million people die from mosquito-borne
diseases every year. Mosquito vectored diseases
include protozoan diseases, i.e. malaria, viruses
such as dengue, encephalitis.
Malaria is an ancient disease
probably originating in Africa. The malaria parasite
(plasmodium) is transmitted by female Anopheles
mosquitoes. It is reported that malaria kills
one child every 40 second.
Dengue is a serious
arboviral diseases of Asia and Africa. Although
it has a low mortality, dengue has very uncomfortable
symptoms and has become more serious, both un
frequency and mortality, in recent years. Aedes
aegypti and Ae. albopictus are the vectors of
dengue. Dengue viruses are transmitted during
the feeding process (needle - like structure &
elongated mouth of an Aedes aegypti)
